Few bilateral relationships in Africa today are as deep and multifaceted as that between Türkiye and Somalia. What began as an emergency humanitarian initiative in 2011 has since matured into a comprehensive partnership, spanning aid, commerce, infrastructure, diplomacy, and security. At the heart of this relationship lies a powerful mix of soft power and hard strategy: Türkiye positions itself simultaneously as benefactor, builder, investor, and protector. For Somalia, still grappling with state fragility and insurgency, Turkish support has become indispensable.
