Unidentified drones have been spotted over Esbjerg, Denmark’s largest North Sea port, and Sønderborg near the German border, prompting fears of organized surveillance. Drones were also reported over a Danish airport, raising the prospect of a national emergency. The concerns coincide with Türkiye deploying an AWACS radar plane to Lithuania, and U.S. aircraft intercepting unidentified planes near Alaska’s Air Defense Identification Zone. Ukraine has intensified strikes on Russian infrastructure, targeting the Kuibyshev-Tikhoretsk pipeline, the Salavat refinery, and facilities in Crimea and Krasnodar. Local shortages of gasoline and diesel have emerged, while pro-Russian figures admit to heavy losses and significant damage to refining capacity. Kyiv claims to have retaken 360 square kilometers (139 square miles) of territory. Washington has signaled readiness to replace Russian oil and gas in Europe. Meanwhile, a Spanish military aircraft carrying Defense Minister Margarita Robles experienced GPS jamming near Kaliningrad, echoing similar incidents across northern Europe. And separately, Spain will send a warship to join Italy in protecting a Gaza-bound flotilla attacked by drones off Greece, raising the prospect of a clash with Israel should they enter Israeli territory.
